2026 Youth Season

Yarraville Glory Football Club aspires to offer the leading football program in Melbourne’s west.

We are integrated with our local community, nurturing and developing young talent.

We proudly honour the club’s Greek heritage while welcoming and embracing all cultures within our wider community. Yarraville Glory’s warm and inclusive culture reflects our roots and values.

We aim to grow the number of teams in our junior program by positively impacting every family, player, and supporter who engages with our club.

Our Approach to Coaching

We provide a caring, professional and structured environment for young boys and girls, developing pathways that allow our juniors to progress into the senior squad, and aspire to opportunities in the A-League and National Team. A key part of this is ensuring our coaching staff receive the best possible education and hold the relevant coaching licenses and qualifications to provide optimal learning experiences for our players.

Prioritising Character

While developing footballing ability is crucial, Yarraville Glory Football Club places greater value on developing good humans. Positive behaviour, sportsmanship, respect, and humility are core pillars of being a member of our club community. Every staff member and player should represent Yarraville Glory positively at all times.

Affiliation with Mells Football Academy

Yarraville Glory Football Club is proud to be affiliated with Mells Football Academy, which delivers excellence at the academy level. The Mells Football Academy curriculum will underpin the Yarraville training program, ensuring consistency and high-quality development for all players.

Short and Longer-Term Goals

• U8-U13: Field strong, cohesive teams at each age level, playing an attractive, possession-based style of football.

• U14-U18: Maintain full squads in each age group, playing at the highest competitive level attainable.

• Teams to perform consistently, playing the “Yarraville way” and aiming for strong league positions while upholding our footballing philosophy.

• Coaches provide consistency within their age groups, ensuring each team has the resources, guidance, and tailored support they need.

2026 Trial Opportunities

Grading processes are now getting underway for the 2026 season, ensuring players are grouped according to ability and attitude.

Football Victoria organises competitions according to skill – graded as Kangas, Wallabies or Joeys. Selection of players to these teams is always ability/performance-based with selection of Kangas teams also to be based on commitment. Players assessed as being at Kangas level are under no obligation to play in the Kangas team and can opt to play in Wallabies or Joeys with their friends.

Throughout this process, Yarraville Glory Football Club and the Technical Director will prioritise and develop existing players. New players from external clubs will only be added if they bring significant value to their respective age group. To maintain the integrity of our program and trial process, only the Technical Director can approve new players training with existing squads.

Training

Players will be expected to attend training twice weekly, with an expected duration of between 75 minutes and 90 minutes.
